All are welcome here! Riverside
Christian Church is an open and affirming congregation, valuing the gifts and worship of all who come.
Do I have to dress up? No! Feel welcome to dress comfortably. Some will wear suits and dresses, others school clothes or jeans. God does not care what you wear and neither
do we.
What is available for children? A nursery is availble from 9:30 through the end of Worship. A quiet space
is set up for older children and youth to have activities during the morning message. Middle and High School youth meet before worship to discuss current events with related bible passages and
discussion questions.
What Is Worship Like? Riverside Christian is a family church. It can sound like a bee hive
before worship begins as we greet one another! Our "style" is casual, but somewhat traditional. You will encounter laughter and prayer, guitars, piano and organ, hymnals and words on an
overhead screen. We pray for one another and for the larger world. We hear scripture each week, and a challenging message based upon it. We sing old songs and new ones. Our children are included in worship. At the heart of our worship each week is the celebration of the Lord's Supper, or
communion.
Do I have to be a member of the church to take communion? Or, do I have to be baptized to take communion?
No! We celebrate the Lord's Supper every week, and as it is the "Lord's table," not ours, it is open to everyone whom Christ invites. Everyone! Communion
is not restricted to those who have been baptized, as children learn what it means to be included in the family of God through their participation. If parents prefer to have their children wait
to participate, that is always their choice.
How is Riverside governed? Riverside is governed locally by the church constitution and bylaws
executed by the church board. The board is comprised of church members elected by the congregation at the annual congregational meeting. We choose our own minister and staff, and as
an autonomous congregation, own our church property. Offerings are voluntary, and are designated by the giver toward the general budget or Outreach, supporting local and global
ministries. Click here for a list of this year's Committee
members.
