Science Camp is a free summer event during the month of June. Hosted here at Riverside.
We have a walking school bus to and from the church picking up kids in the neighborhood.
Each morning we have breakfast together get some reading and math tutoring and then work on fun science projects.
At noon we have lunch together and walk the students home.
This serves many needs in our community i. e. Childcare, tutoring, socializing and just plain fun.
We also hold mini-camps on teacher in-service days and in odd months we conduct Science Saturdays which serve families.
Students in grades pre-K through six can bring a parent or guardian or work with one of our volunteers. We share a meal and spend the morning doing fun science projects and then build something cool to take home like a model rocket or robot.
Our next Science Saturday will be January 25 from 9 AM to noon.
All Are Welcome.
Last year we had so much fun!
We planted beans, built rockets (and launched them!), and even had a some animals come visit us!
At the end we had a huge party with food, games, and a bouncy castle!
Our volunteers had just as much fun as our kids!
